Welcome to the Christian Citizen Initiative!

Does the church, the pastor, and the Christian citizen have a role and responsibility in the local, state, and federal government?

The purpose of the Christian Citizen Initiative is to answer that question—providing the what, the when, the how, and the why—in order to equip pastors and people of faith to confidently participate in the immense privilege extended to us in this government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”

Biblical citizenship recognizes the relationship between Biblical values and Constitutional responsibilities, and acknowledges the American Christian’s duty to actively uphold both by putting faith into action at their intersection.

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”

~ Proverbs 29:2

Here in America, we the people (and that includes God’s people) get to decide which it will be.

This responsibility should be especially captivating for God’s people, but Solomon was not the only wise man to recognize this truth. The secular wisdom of Plato similarly observes:

“The price that good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.”
Plato

Each of us has an obligation to actively participate in the system of self-government established by our Constitution.

There is no better time to do so than right now!
